On July 18, 1870 the town council purchased a third class Silsby Steamer, from the Silsby Manufacturing Company of Seneca Falls, New York. A model 9600, it had a pump rated at 600 GPM and was pulled by horses. Steamer was retired in 1929 to private industry and is believed to have been dismantled and scraped
